Praying for the unborn in our cities. John Newton was the writer of the well known song, "Amazing Grace". By his own admission he was responsible for the deaths of thousands of African men, women and children. As we pray for all those involved in the practice of abortion, we need to be very careful to remember God's amazing grace that continues reaching out to them. What we do: 1) We understand the main issues:      When we look at the rhetoric around the debate of abortion,      there appears two clear spiritual roots. a) "Truth" The debate about when life begins is crucial,       for if we can dehumanize someone,       we don't have to feel sorry or regret for killing them.       b) "Freedom" has 2 parts      1) Sexual assault - this is a legitimate sin issue in our society and it needs to be addressed          Men are not “free” to take sex. Men need to repent and confess.          Men need to  "Treat...older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters,          with absolute purity." 1 Timothy 5:1,2 NIV      2) Rebellion - Abortion is not about sexual assault, as statistically most abortions are for          convenience.  Abortion is about having sex without the consequences.          see reference 1 below. 2) - We need to prepare ourselves, allowing ourselves to be broken:       The man God used to bring the Welsh Revival, Evan Roberts said,       ”You must put away all unconfessed sin;       you must put away any doubtful habit;       you must obey the Spirit promptly;       and you must confess Christ publicly."       2 Chronicles 7 14 "If My people who are called by My name will       humble themselves, and pray and seek My face,       and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven" NIV 3) - Then we can pray with compassion for:      - For the truth. That Christians in your city will uphold the fact that life begins at conception.        That pre born children will be given the same protection as any other person in Canada.      - For men and women to repent of their sexual sins in your city and church.       -For the young ladies who are struggling with unexpected pregnancies.       -For the young fathers and parents of these young ladies, that they        would be supportive.       -For the doctors and nurses - that they would have courage to resist the        pressures in your province to provide abortions.       -For families to come forward in your city and church to help the young mums        with emotional support, providing financial aid and even adopting the babies.       -To ask forgiveness of God the Father in our city and province for our callus        neglect of the precious gift of life He has entrusted us with.       -To ask forgiveness of Jesus the Son of God, children are precious to Him             -To ask forgiveness of the Holy Spirit for causing Him such pain, and ask Him        to come to your church. For all the Christians in your city to hear of crying        of the innocent pre born children that He hears, and respond. 4) Find out who in your congregation is in the following fields. Medical (Doctors, nurses, etc.)  Education (public school teachers) Political Pray over them - if you can arrange it - pray over them personally The best option would be to have your church pick one Sunday a month to pray over these people laying hands on them as a congregation What we do not “pray for”:       We do not call down curses.       We do not ask for horrible things to happen to others in Jesus name.       Luke 9:54,55  “When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked,       “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them ?”       But Jesus turned and rebuked them”. 5) - We would encourage you and your prayer team to be praying at least a month before you show any of our videos.         You can pray that the lies of the enemy would be exposed and that the truth be revealed,       to your church and the neighbouring blocks around where you meet.                       “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.                       On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.                       We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up                       against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought                       to make it obedient to Christ.”  2Co 10:4 and 5 NIV
“God has a plan for His Church upon earth. But alas! we too often make our plan, and we think that we know what ought to be done. We ask God first to bless our feeble efforts, instead of absolutely refusing to go unless God go before us.” ― Andrew Murray,  Absolute Surrender “Until you know that life is war, you cannot know what prayer is for.” -John Piper "All I know is that when I pray, coincidences happen; and when I don't pray, they don't happen." - Dan Hayes "When a Christian shuns fellowship with other Christians, the devil smiles, When he stops studying the Bible, the devil laughs. When he stops praying, the devils shouts for joy." - Corrie Ten Boom "Always respond to every impulse to pray. The impulse to pray may come when you are reading or when you are battling with a text. I would make an absolute law of this: always obey such an impulse." - Martyn Lloyd-Jones "Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers, pray for powers equal to your task." - Philip Brooks
